Poetry – Losing Friends

They walked together side by side
their footprints in the snow,
then the path began to narrow
and the one begins to slow.
The other picked up speed,
running to the light.
But the other stayed behind
and watched her run out of sight.
The girl burst into spring,
watching the blossoms grow,
cutting the ties that bound her,
letting the other one go.

The other sat in the snow,
loose rope grasped in her hand.
Crying at her stubbornness,
missing her now lost friend.
